People Counting
The patented system for head detection from an overhead camera perspective also enables highly accurate counting of dense crowds or large groups of people.
In addition, further powerful image evaluation algorithms are available which analyse movement behaviour and the direction of people’s movement.
This means the videosystem is also particularly suitable for awkward entrance areas and demanding light conditions. People are counted when they have fully crossed the counting zone or count line. Up to ten count lines per camera image are possible.
These can be simply configured using the mouse and are then immediately ready for use. For wide entrances and revolving doors, count lines can be combined across different cameras and systems.
Count lines can also be curved to cover angled entrances with unusual traffic patterns. Counting is bidirectional i.e. those going in and out are both registered.
Vitracom People Counting also provides additional measuring instruments to ascertain dwell time, traffic routes and movement directions.
