Cam In Sens

Distributed, network camera systems for on the spot recognition of personally induced hazard situations in public spaces.

Extensive areas are frequently monitored using camera systems. The recorded video data streams are combined and made available to the safety personnel in a central safety station on monitor covered walls. Using these conventional methods, it is rarely possible to record acutely threatening situations when they actually occur i.e. on the spot. Often the (saved) video data only serves for investigation purposes after a critical security incident.

As well as the technical aspects, an analysis of the requirements of the German constitutional law and that of the EU (specifically the right to informational self-determination was also carried out as part of the project, this also included the consideration of further basic rights such as freedom of assembly and freedom of expression) and the non-constitutional law (simple act) data protection rights with a view to tracking people and pattern recognition using ”intelligent“ networked cameras.
